The Griffith Foundation Names Peter G. Hohman Winner of the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award

MALVERN, Pa.— Peter G. Hohman, MBA, FCIP, CAE, ICD.D received The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation’s 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award during a ceremony at the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) Annual Convention on September 23 in National Harbor, Maryland.

Candidates for the 2019 Griffith Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award were selected by The Griffith Foundation and NAMIC. Winners are recognized for their commitment to education and support of the missions of The Griffith Foundation and NAMIC. 

“Peter has been a consistent and influential voice for the promotion of insurance education and professionalism in Canada even as he leads the IIC. The importance of that voice cannot be overestimated in this time of increasing employment opportunity in the industry and the very viable and worthwhile career that is possible for professionals of any age, but especially those just starting out. This Lifetime Achievement Award is a fitting and much deserved recognition of his commitment and efforts to promote education and professionalism,” said NAMIC president and CEO Charles Chamness.

Hohman is President and CEO of The Insurance Institute of Canada. He has 40 years of broad experience in the property & casualty insurance industry. Hohman serves on the Board of Trustees of The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation and the Board of Trustees of Gamma Iota Sigma. He also served as the CPCU Society’s first international governor. Hohman is the immediate Past Chairman of the Institute for Global Insurance Education, a global network of international insurance institutes, and he serves on the Advisory Board for the Chair in Risk Management & Insurance at the University of Calgary.

Hohman holds a BSc with Honors, as well as an MBA with Distinction through the Edinburgh School of Business at Heriott Watt University. He also holds a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation both conferred by The Insurance Institute of Canada, as well as a second Fellowship major for which he earned the top country graduate award. Hohman also holds a CRM designation conferred by RIMS. He has earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation as well, again achieving the top graduate in Canada award. Peter is a certified board director (ICD.D) through the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Business.
