This course provides an abbreviated history of the hurricane condition in Florida, beginning with Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and examining the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons.

Hurricanes are unavoidable and often devastating. We can best help our clients by being prepared and arming ourselves with knowledge. This course provides an abbreviated history of the hurricane condition in Florida, beginning with Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and examining the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. Look at the history of Florida building codes and how they are structured today. Learn about available options for homeowners to strengthen their homes against hurricanes and how these options qualify for premium discounts on the homeowners' property insurance policies. Review the Florida Comprehensive Hurricane Damage Mitigation program and the My Safe Florida Home program. Take a look at the current wind mitigation form that is required to obtain premium discounts on insurance policies.
