Steve McElhiney is senior vice president and global director of reinsurance for Gallagher Artex, serving in its reinsurance intermediary, EWI Re, which provides reinsurance solutions for Artex captive and mutual transactions globally. He previously served as chief risk officer of EWI’s parent company, Contran Corporation, and as president of its captive insurer, Tall Pines Insurance Company of Vermont, and of EWI Re (UK), Ltd., EWI’s London-based subsidiary and Lloyd’s brokerage. McElhiney is on the advisory board of AIRROC, where he is leading an initiative around finality transactions for captives. He also wrote Fundamentals of Reinsurance and Reinsurance Markets, published by IRMI, and was named to the 2020 Captive Review Power 50 list.
