Important Updates for Current CPCU Students

What Current CPCU Students Need to Know


Materials for the following CPCU courses are expiring. This means that course numbers are staying the same, but course titles and content have been updated.

The deadline to test on your expiring materials is September 15, 2023. This includes the following courses:

  • CPCU 500: Managing Evolving Risks
  • CPCU 520: Connecting the Business of Insurance Operations
  • CPCU 530: Navigating the Legal Landscape of Insurance
  • CPCU 540: Impacting the Bottom Line of Insurance Financials
  • CPCU 551: Addressing Commercial Property Risk
  • CPCU 552: Addressing Commercial Liability Risk
  • CPCU 555: Developing Personal Insurance Solutions
  • CPCU 556: Planning Personal Financial Strategies

NOTE: When you purchase the exam for your expiring course online, course titles now reflect the updated CPCU program; however, rest assured that if you select the July 15 – September 15, 2023 window, it will be the correct exam for your expiring course regardless of the course title displayed. You can confirm your correct exam edition on your My Courses & Exams page once purchased.

Materials for the following CPCU courses are retiring. This means that these courses are no longer part of the updated program.

The deadline to test on retiring materials is December 15, 2023. This includes the following courses:

 

The updated CPCU program still requires 8 courses and 8 exams, and includes:

  • 5 Core Courses 
    • A new course on data and technology, CPCU 550, has been added to the core requirements of CPCU 500, 520, 530, and 540. Course numbers for CPCU 500, 520, 530, and 540 remain the same, but course titles and content have been updated.
  • 2 Coverage Courses (Personal or Commercial Lines) 
    • The coverage courses have been streamlined from 3 courses in the previous program to 2 courses in the updated program. The option to choose a Personal or Commercial concentration remains the same.
  • 1 Elective 
    • All elective options remain the same.
  • Ethics 312 and Matriculation
    • Ethics 312 and matriculation continue to be a requirement in the new path.

The updated ARM Path to CPCU now includes:

  • 5 Core Courses
    • The updated CPCU 530 and CPCU 540 have been added as core requirements for the new ARM Path to CPCU, while CPCU 410 is retiring and will no longer be part of the updated program. There are no updates to ARM 400, 401, or 402. Please note that CPCU 410 waives CPCU 530, so you do not need to take CPCU 530 if you have already completed CPCU 410.
  • 2 Coverage Courses (Personal or Commercial Lines)
    • The coverage courses have been streamlined from 3 courses in the previous program to 2 courses in the updated program. The option to choose a Personal or Commercial concentration remains the same.
  • 1 Elective
    • All elective options remain the same.
  • Ethics 312 and Matriculation
    • Ethics 312 and matriculation continue to be a requirement in the new path.
