What Current CPCU Students Need to Know
Materials for the following CPCU courses have expired. This means that course numbers are the same, but course titles and content have been updated.
The deadline to test on expiring materials was September 15, 2023. This includes the following courses:
- CPCU 500: Managing Evolving Risks
- CPCU 520: Connecting the Business of Insurance Operations
- CPCU 530: Navigating the Legal Landscape of Insurance
- CPCU 540: Impacting the Bottom Line of Insurance Financials
- CPCU 551: Addressing Commercial Property Risk
- CPCU 552: Addressing Commercial Liability Risk
- CPCU 555: Developing Personal Insurance Solutions
- CPCU 556: Planning Personal Financial Strategies
Materials for the following CPCU courses have retired. This means that these courses are not part of the updated program.
The deadline to test on retiring materials was December 15, 2023. This includes the following courses:
- CPCU 553: Understanding Personal Insurance and Finance
- CPCU 557: Understanding Commercial Risk
- CPCU 410: Speaking the Insurance Language
The updated CPCU program requires 8 courses and 8 exams, and includes:
- 5 Core Courses
- A new course on data and technology, CPCU 550, was added to the core requirements of CPCU 500, 520, 530, and 540. Course numbers for CPCU 500, 520, 530, and 540 remain the same, but course titles and content were updated.
- 2 Coverage Courses (Personal or Commercial Lines)
- The coverage courses were streamlined from 3 courses in the previous program to 2 courses in the updated program. The option to choose a Personal or Commercial concentration remains the same.
- 1 Elective
- All elective options remain the same.
- Ethics and Matriculation
The updated ARM Path to CPCU includes:
- 5 Core Courses
- The updated CPCU 530 and CPCU 540 were added as core requirements for the new ARM Path to CPCU, while CPCU 410 was retired and is not part of the updated program. There are no updates to ARM 400, 401, or 402. Please note that CPCU 410 waives CPCU 530, so you do not need to take CPCU 530 if you have already completed CPCU 410.

- The coverage courses have been streamlined from 3 courses in the previous program to 2 courses in the updated program. The option to choose a Personal or Commercial concentration remains the same.

What was updated within the courses?
The content of the courses was updated to reflect the evolving risk management and insurance business so that students develop the practical leadership skills they need to lead the future.
The learning experience was also updated to match the needs of today’s busy adult learner—including more videos and interactions to help you acquire and retain the skills you need to be leaders, in addition to still offering a course book as a tangible resource.

What's included in the new materials?
The Recommended Course Package still includes the online course, a printed course book, a printable study outline, as well as assignment quizzes, practice exams, a simulated credentialing exam, flash cards, and discussion boards.
The Online Only package does not contain the printed course book.
