Peter Miller

Peter L. Miller, CPCU, MS, MBA

Chief Executive Officer

Peter L. Miller is chief executive officer of The Institutes and a member of The Institutes’ Senior Management Team. He sets the strategic direction of The Institutes and advances their commitment to helping those in risk management and insurance build a more resilient world.

He chairs the Board of Directors for The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, the International Insurance Society, the Insurance Information Institute, the Black Insurance Industry Collective, the Catastrophe Resiliency Council, The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative, InsuranceAUM.com, and the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association. He also chairs the Institute for Global Insurance Education and serves ex officio as a member of The Institutes’ Board of Trustees.

Miller is a graduate of Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a minor in economics, and a master’s degree in systems management. He also holds an MBA from Villanova University and has done extensive PhD-level work in computer information systems with a focus on AI. He holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes.

Bob Haracz

Robert Haracz, CPCU, MS

Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Robert Haracz is senior vice president and chief information officer of The Institutes and a member of its Senior Management Team. He is responsible for enterprise technology strategy and operations, including information technology, data and business intelligence, cybersecurity, and overall data and AI governance for the enterprise. Since joining The Institutes in 2017, he has led the organization's technology modernization, including more recently its adoption of AI-enabled delivery across the enterprise.

Before joining The Institutes, Haracz held technology leadership roles across finance, healthcare, and technology organizations, ranging from midsize firms to Fortune 500 global businesses.

Haracz graduated summa cum laude from Drexel University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, received a GAANN (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a master's degree in information science from Penn State University. He holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes.

Kate Horowitz

Katherine Horowitz, CPCU, MS

President

Katherine Horowitz is president of The Institutes and a member of The Institutes’ Senior Management Team. She leads several of The Institutes business units and oversees partnerships, events, and enterprise mergers and acquisitions, focusing on strategic direction and integration of acquisitions and affiliations.  

She serves on the Board of Directors for The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, the International Insurance Society, the Insurance Information Institute, the Black Insurance Industry Collective, the Catastrophe Resiliency Council, The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative, InsuranceAUM.com, and the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association.  

Before joining The Institutes in 2008, Horowitz worked in talent acquisition at Susquehanna International Group, a global investment and trading firm. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Neumann University, where she graduated summa cum laude, and a master’s degree in strategic management and executive leadership from Penn State University.

Adam Carmichael Headshot

Adam Carmichael, CPCU, MS

Group President

Adam Carmichael is group president of The Institutes, where he leads the strategic direction of The Institutes Knowledge Group, the Agent & Broker Group, CEU, and The Institutes CPCU Society. He oversees the business unit plans and processes behind new course creation, ensuring The Institutes' education aligns with evolving professional development needs.

With more than 25 years at The Institutes, Carmichael has held leadership roles in assessments, marketing strategy, market research, and the Insurance Research Council (IRC). His experience spans public policy research related to insurance issues and he also brings an analytics background to his role, with a focus on turning data into strategy.

Carmichael holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Maryland and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Delaware. He holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes and is a member of The Institutes CPCU Society.

Hunter Fausnacht Headshot

Hunter Fausnacht

President of The Institutes Agent & Broker Group & CEU

Hunter Fausnacht is president of The Institutes Agent & Broker Group. He leads the strategic direction of the group and serves as the primary liaison to the Insurance Broker Advisory Board. He also leads CEU Insurance Continuing Education and client relationship management efforts.

Fausnacht joined The Institutes in 2017 as director of business development, where he led the growth initiative within the agent and broker community. He partnered with the top 100 insurance brokers to deliver knowledge development solutions and advised The Institutes on the learning needs of modern insurance brokers.

Before joining The Institutes, Fausnacht served as vice president of business development at Willis Group. Before this role, he worked in business development at Rolls-Royce, covering Asia and the Middle East. Fausnacht earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
