Adam Carmichael, CPCU

As President of The Institutes Knowledge Group, Adam Carmichael, CPCU, leads the strategic development and delivery of courses and exams for risk management and insurance designation programs. He oversees new course creation to ensure The Institutes’ education aligns with evolving professional development needs.
With more than 25 years at The Institutes, Carmichael has held leadership roles in assessments, market research, and the Insurance Research Council. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Delaware. He is also a member of the CPCU Society.
Angela Pilotti, CPCU, ARe
Head of Education at The Institutes
Angela Pilotti, CPCU, ARe, is Head of Education at The Institutes, where she leads teams in developing high-quality, innovative learning resources and assessments for risk and insurance professionals. Since joining The Institutes in 2008, she has advanced through leadership roles in content development and assessments, building on her strong insurance background in reinsurance and underwriting.
Earlier in her career, Pilotti served as assistant vice president of Reinsurance at PMA Insurance Group, where she managed treaty reinsurance programs and established marketplace credibility. A magna cum laude graduate of Temple University, she is an active member of The Institutes CPCU Society.
Diane Hanlon
Head of Sales and Market Development, The Institutes
Diane Hanlon is Head of Sales and Market Development at The Institutes, where she oversees sales strategy, client relations, and market development initiatives. She has built a partnership-focused sales team that emphasizes collaboration and long-term client success. In her role, she works with Learning and Development leaders to design tailored learning pathways that strengthen organizational workforces.
She also serves on the Board of the Society of Insurance Trainers and Educators, contributing to the advancement of insurance education. Diane Hanlon holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kutztown University, with a concentration in marketing and a minor in Spanish.
Eric Czerwin
Director of Sales, The Institutes
Eric Czerwin is Director of Sales for The Institutes Knowledge Group, where he supports carriers and guides sales and account management teams. With a background in risk management and underwriting, he bridges strategic insight with practical execution while fostering collaborative, long-term relationships. His focus is on empowering carrier workforces with enhanced skills and insurance field knowledge through organizational learning and development initiatives.
He also serves as Vice President of Membership for the Society of Insurance Trainers and Educators, advancing professional growth through programs, services, and networking. He earned a bachelor’s degree in leadership, concentrating on business management, from the University of Delaware.
Peter L. Miller, CPCU, MS, MBA
PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Peter L. Miller is president and chief executive officer of The Institutes and a member of The Institutes’ Senior Management Team. He chairs the Board of Directors for The Institutes CPCU Society, The Institutes Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, The International Insurance Society, Insurance Information Institute, Black Insurance Industry Collective, Catastrophe Resiliency Council, The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative, and The Insurance Accounting and Systems Association as well as serves ex-officio as a member of The Institutes’ Board of Trustees.
Miller is a graduate of Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a minor in economics, and a master’s degree in systems management. He also holds an MBA from Villanova University and has done extensive PhD-level work in computer information systems. Miller holds the CPCU designation from The Institutes. In addition, he chairs the Institute for Global Insurance Education (IGIE).
